Itchy Teeth are an alternative band living in a car. A band is a bubble life and their music sounds like a whole life together. There’s guitar pop as well as some trippy and avant bits we love too. Itchy Teeth is about not being able to grow up, not being able to sleep, not being able to escape your parents, not being able to live without your mobile phone and not being able to stop. Their fans become their friends: they got some fenders, some fanzines and vinyl… They’ve got an orange drum kit. Who wants perfection when you can be freeeeee as free willy? The boys can’t wait to meet you!
Their new upcoming album was recorded in a bunker in Germany, they played it all live and it was done by midnight. The songs were all new, the lads wanted to capture that thrill of playing a new song together. There are a few first takes left in there and there are some strange notes and noises: those are our favourite kind of records.
They said: “Hearing it back, it sounds like it appeared out of nowhere and now those songs are our new surprise best friends. We sing them every night and each time we get to know each other better. Listening to the music now, there’s lots of our life in there: We wanted it to hold up to some of favourite records by bands like Jonathan Richman and The Modern Lovers or The Flaming Lips. There are guitar freakouts, songs about the end of the world – It’s our starting place, to make the record that is us, now.“
The single Time Machine will be out for Fourtwenty Records on the 13 of May, and the album is expected for later this summer.
